The company uses LED white light to eliminate bacteria and mold at home.

According to foreign media reports, the lighting company Ellumi recently launched an LED lamp, which is said to eliminate bacteria and mold in the home. The company says that bacteria, fungi and molds won't have a chance to survive as long as the switch is turned on. According to Ellumi, the company's LEDs not only illuminate the surrounding environment, they can also be sterilized.

       Ellumi's products use white light instead of ultraviolet light, which has been used for decades to eliminate annoying microbes. The company said its LEDs rely on mature technology from the medical industry startup Vital Vio. Together with ordinary white light, the system emits light at a wavelength of 405 nm. VitalVio said that in addition to being harmless to the human body, 405 nm light can kill microorganisms.

       To support his claim, Ellumi pointed out two studies published by the American Society of Infectious Diseases. The first study concluded that the LED disinfection system was applied to the hospital trauma chamber "significantly reduces microbial surface contamination" over a 15-week period. The second study showed that Vital Vito's LED lamps effectively eliminated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus and Acinetobacter baumannii. In comparison, the study took only 96 hours.

       Currently, Ellumi is selling Amazon-designed lamps for kitchen use. These products are available in four models (9, 12, 18 and 24 inches) and range in price from $68 to $143, which is more than conventional LED strips. The price is three times higher.
